On November 19, 2010 in celebration of American Education Week, three retired teachers (Ms. Elenor Giles, Ms. Barbara Tindell, and Ms. Patricia Calloway) came to Thirteenth Avenue School to read in our lending Library. Under the direction of Pre-K teachers Ms. Crawford and Ms. Julian the Lending Library was set up and will be run by parents. The students were very enthusiastically engaged as they were read to. Ms. Calloway read “The Three Little Bears” to the autistic class and she brought along three teddy bears for the children to hold and cuddle with. Ms. Giles and Ms. Tindell reinforced making predictions, authors, illustrators, and the dedication page. The classroom teachers and the students enjoyed their time in the Lending Library.
