Thirteenth Avenue School kicked off its school year with a 2010 PRIDE Assembly. Ms. Iris Matthews, School Leadership Council Chairperson served as Mistress of Ceremonies. Students were saluted for School Uniform Compliance during the 2009-2010 school year. The School Pride Pledge Demonstration was presented by Middle Grade Students. Administrative Greetings were given by the School’s Principal, Ms. Lynn Irby-Jackson and Vice-Principals, Dr. Graham and Ms. Gilliam.
Ms. Matthews welcomed all new staff members and students. Members of the school’s Support Staff introduced themselves and gave brief overviews of their job descriptions. A Pride Pep Rally was led by famed musician, Mr. G. Mr. Lyndon Brown, PTA President encouraged students to model good behavior and also acknowledged the school’s new students and staff. Special Recognition was given to the School’s 2010 Student of the Year, John Garner, sixth grader.
